In light of continuous expansion within their Data & Analytics practice, our Client is seeking an accomplished technology leader for the role of Competence Lead – Fabric & Data.
This pivotal position merges strategic technical governance, engineering excellence, and team development with high-level executive consulting. Beyond architecting state-of-the-art analytical ecosystems utilising the Microsoft Fabric suite, you will be instrumental in mentoring high-performing consultants, establishing engineering benchmarks, and driving an empathetic, growth-oriented team culture.
Resposibilities
1. People Leadership & Practice Development
Talent Mentorship & Career Guidance: Lead, coach, and support the career progression of data engineers, BI consultants, and solution architects within the Fabric practice.
Competency Growth & Skills Strategy: Identify technical gaps across the team, design internal upskilling initiatives, build certification tracks (e.g., Microsoft DP-600), and facilitate structured knowledge sharing.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Partner actively with talent acquisition teams to interview, select, and integrate top-tier data professionals.
Inclusive Culture Building: Cultivate a collaborative, psychological safety-oriented work environment grounded in continuous learning and cross-functional synergy.
2. Technical Leadership & Solution Architecture
Engineering Standards & Governance: Define, maintain, and enforce technical delivery benchmarks, architectural blueprints, and coding best practices for Microsoft Fabric deployment (Lakehouse, Warehouse, semantic modelling, and data pipelines).
Quality Assurance & Architectural Audits: Perform structured code reviews and architectural assessments on business-critical client engagements to ensure performance, scalability, and security.
Technology Evolution & AI Integration: Monitor emerging trends in cloud analytics, generative AI, and modern data platforms to continuously refine and modernise the practice offering.
3. Executive Consulting & Presales Support
Strategic Business Partnership: Conduct interactive discovery sessions and strategic technology workshops for executive leadership (C-level) and key enterprise stakeholders.
Presales Engineering & Solution Design: Translate complex business requirements into robust technical architectures, author technical proposals, estimate scope of work, and present value propositions during deal cycles.
Expectation Management & Stakeholder Alignment: Serve as an authoritative subject matter expert to negotiate solution boundaries, resolve technical trade-offs, and articulate tangible business outcomes.
Requirments
Leadership & Interpersonal Competencies
Proven track record in technical team management or practice leadership (acting as Competence Lead, Tech Lead, Team Lead, or Senior Consultant ready for a step into formal leadership).
Exceptional interpersonal and empathetic communication skills, with a demonstrated capacity to simplify intricate technical concepts for executive audiences.
Passionate about growing talent, facilitating peer-to-peer mentoring, and building highly engaged engineering teams.
Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities in ambiguous or fast-paced project environments.
Full professional proficiency in English (minimum C1 level) for leading international client workshops and executive discussions.
Technical Expertise
Microsoft Fabric Ecosystem Mastery: Comprehensive architecture-level experience across OneLake, Data Engineering, Data Factory, Data Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Real-Time Analytics, and Power BI.
Data Platform Architecture: Solid background in designing modern analytical engines (Lakehouse/Warehouse paradigms), semantic layer engineering, and capacity scaling/cost optimisation strategies.
Data Pipeline Engineering: Advanced expertise in building scalable ETL/ELT workflows and integrating multi-source environments via Azure Data Factory and related services.
Data Governance & Security: Practical experience implementing enterprise governance frameworks using Microsoft Purview, Entra ID, Row-Level Security (RLS), and granular access control.
Proficiency in advanced SQL queries and complex DAX calculations.
Certifications: Microsoft certifications in relevant domains (e.g., DP-600, DP-203, PL-300) or commitment to achieving them rapidly.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Hands-on integration experience with Microsoft Dataverse and Dynamics 365.
Experience setting up or scaling a Centre of Excellence (CoE) framework within enterprise environments.
Prior involvement in commercial presales activities, cost estimations, and formal RFP responses.
