Our Client is a long-established and highly-regarded Central and Eastern European technology provider specialising in designing, building, and operating advanced, mission-critical software solutions for large international organisations. With over 25 years of history and a team of 600+ top-tier software engineers across Europe, they are a certified partner for high-stakes industries including Aerospace & Defence, Automotive, Telecommunications, and Financial Services. They hold rigorous quality and security certifications such as NATO AQAP and TISAX.

This specific role involves working with a leading European client to develop and maintain their sophisticated cloud platform. You will be responsible for defining the DevOps architecture and strategy for solutions built primarily on Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes. You will be a key player in ensuring that highly available, scalable, and secure cloud-native architectures are implemented, managing the full lifecycle from Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development through to CI/CD and observability. This is a chance to apply your senior expertise to complex, enterprise-grade cloud environments.

Resposibilities

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end automation, deployment, and operational excellence of cloud-native systems. Your key duties will include:

  • Cloud Architecture & Strategy: Design and implement highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure architectures utilising Microsoft Azure services, including AKS, VNETs, Private Endpoints, Azure Firewall, Key Vault, and Azure Application Gateway.

  • Infrastructure Automation (IaC): Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform or ARM Templates to provision and manage cloud resources in a repeatable and consistent manner.

  • CI/CD Pipeline Ownership: Design, implement, and optimise robust CI/CD pipelines (e.g., using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI) for both application deployment and infrastructure changes.

  • Kubernetes Management: Administer, secure, and optimise Kubernetes clusters (preferably AKS), focusing on networking, scaling, security hardening, and performance tuning.

  • Monitoring and Observability: Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Azure Monitor/Log Analytics to maintain platform health and identify issues proactively.

  • Security and Compliance: Enforce security best practices, implement policies (e.g., Azure Policies), and ensure all deployments comply with industry standards and internal IT security requirements.

  • Collaboration & Mentoring: Work closely with development, security, and product teams to define requirements, troubleshoot complex production issues, and mentor junior team members on DevOps methodologies and tools.

Requirments
  • Senior Experience: At least 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Cloud Engineering role, with a focus on enterprise-scale solutions.

  • Azure Mastery: Proven, in-depth expertise in designing, deploying, and managing complex infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform.

  • Kubernetes Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes (K8s), including cluster operations, networking, security, and using tools like Helm or Kustomize.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong hands-on experience with Terraform or equivalent IaC tools (e.g., ARM Templates, Bicep).

  • CI/CD Proficiency: Demonstrable experience in building and managing modern CI/CD automation pipelines using technologies such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.

  • Scripting and Automation: Solid scripting skills in languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell for task automation and system configuration.

  • Networking Fundamentals: Excellent understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VNETs, network security groups (NSG), load balancing, and private connectivity.

  • Communication: Fluent professional English (written and spoken) and excellent collaboration skills in a remote, cross-functional team setting.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with advanced Azure services for data or AI/ML workloads (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Machine Learning).

  • Knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible.

  • Experience with FinOps or cloud cost optimisation strategies.
